News November 20, 2020

Despite the setbacks and inconveniences caused by the Covid-19 pandemic to the global community, Uganda Union, the supervisory body of the Seventh-day Adventist church in Uganda has registered notable church growth success through the establishment of two new fields namely North Buganda Station and West Buganda station. Yesterday on the 19th of November, 2020, in his address to the church that was aired over Prime Radio, a local FM radio station owned by the Central Uganda Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, the archbishop of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda Pr. Matte Daniel announced the elected bishops of the new fields who are to commence service in their respective areas of designation early next year in January 2021.

North Buganda Field will be led by Pr. Ssemwogerere David as the Bishop/Executive director and Pr. Ssekaggo Wilson as the Executive secretary. West Buganda Field will be led by Pr. Ssennuuni Daniel as the Bishop/Executive director and Pr. Nsereko Peter Male as the Executive secretary.

In his address, Pr. Matte Daniel commended Central Uganda Conference administration for the work well done in ministering and extending the services of the church to the masses effectively as witnessed by the growth of these areas from which the new fields have been organized. He continued on to ask the church members of the new fields to corporate with the elected bishops to forward the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and to further develop the new fields to greater heights.

Together with the archbishop, the Bishop and Executive director of Central Uganda Conference thanked the church members for their continuous support of the church in all aspects without which Central Uganda Conference would not have given birth to the new fields. He thanked all those who have worked tirelessly to prepare all that is necessary for the commencement of service in these new fields.

Late last year, upon the request of Central Uganda Conference, Uganda Union together with a team of delegates from East and Central Africa Division (ECD), the supervisory body of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in East and Central Africa, duly assessed and substantiated both North Buganda and West Buganda stations and consequently approved their elevation to field status as per the administrative policy of the General Conference of the global Seventh-day Adventist Church community.

Effective January 2021, Central Uganda Conference will be composed of only three stations namely, Mukono (8 districts), Kampala (23 districts), and Masaka stations (9 districts). The Bishops for the new fields will as well commence their service in their respective fields of designation effective 1st January, 2021. We thank God for this vital step in our church growth and wish Gods unfailing blessings to the newly elected Bishops of the new fields as they minister to God’s children.
