During this year’s Easter weekend that commenced on the 1st -5th, April 2021, the Central Uganda Conference Youth ministries department together with Uganda Union youth ministries department organized a five-day Senior Youth Leadership (SYL) seminar under the theme ‘I Will Go’ in which scores of master guides and youth leaders around the Central Uganda Conference were equipped with skills for better youth ministry.

Uganda Union mission youth ministries director, Mrs. Esther Waiswa led out a team of youth ministries directors from Eastern Uganda Field, North Buganda Field, West Buganda Field , South Uganda Field, Rwenzori Field, Northern Uganda Field and the Central Uganda Conference in presentations that handled current and contemporary challenges of youth ministry in modern times like LGBTQ Religious liberty, Christian dressing, Stewardship of the environment, Digital ministry, Mentorship, AIDS Financial Freedom among others. 150 young adults attended at Kaazi.

The workshop was a sequel to previous SYL workshops organized in CUC in a bid to promote and improve the service and ministry of the church to the youths through the newly developed Adventist Youth Ministries (AYM) Senior Youth Leadership (SYL) curriculum that is targeted towards the needs of the senior youths in the Adventist Church. In his speech to the attendees, CUC youth ministries director Pr. Ssentongo Joshua greatly underscored the great need youth empowerment and active participation of the youth in church activities and active discipleship of their counterparts as active members of the church and heralds of the kingdom of God as summarized in the current quinquennial theme of the Adventist Church, ‘I Will Go’.
