In spite of COVID-19 challenges that changed a considerable number of things in the Adventist community the world over, on the 10th of April, 2021, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Central Uganda Conference organized and celebrated in a grand ceremony the ordination of nine evangelists into fully-fledge pastors of the Seventh-day Adventist church at Kireka Hill Church. The ceremony was led by the Uganda archbishop and Uganda Union mission president, Pr. Dr. Matte Daniel together with the Uganda Union family-life ministries and ministerial director, Pr. Dr. Kamiza John, the bishop of Central Uganda Conference Pr. Kajoba Samuel, CUC executive secretary Pr. Alisengawa Jeremiah, the newly elected director of CUC Stewardship department Pr. Ssembuusi John, and the CUC family-life ministries director Pr. Dr. Walugembe Yafeesi.
In his sermon, the archbishop likened the duty of a pastor to that of a watchman who ought to stay on guard at all times to protect the flock of our master and Lord Jesus Christ. He underscored the need for total commitment and devotion to the great commission if the ordinands were to succeed in their service to the Lord for which they have been called. He implored the church members to continually pray for the pastors so they could stand strong amidst the challenges of ministry denoting that their commitment to service makes them prime targets for Satan’s bewildering attacks. He asked the ordinands to wholly lean on the Lord’s providence for the oath they were soon to take was one that required of them no wavering loyalty or allegiance.
The ordinands were nine active evangelists who are already in active service namely; Pr. Buyondo Joseph, Pr. Kabuuka Edward, Pr. Kato Damiano, Pr. Kayiira Fred, Pr. Mayanja Mike, Pr. Mpande David, Pr. Mugagga Peterson, Pr. Mukiibi Crispus, and Pr. Sebaggala Ivan. The ceremony was as well presided over by the retired archbishop of the Uganda Union mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church who led in the laying on of hands on the ordinands.
